This behavior has been observed in human populations, as well.

This is an obvious hate-propaganda article planted by haters with an obvious agenda of hatred and, um, divisiveness and, um, exclusion.

This whole bit about animals behaving this way sounds like hearsay...
... based on statements by people with no agenda whatsoever, right?
Seems like a very contrived template.

The two penguins have started placing stones at the feet of parents before waddling away with their eggs, in a bid to hide their theft. But the deception has been noticed by other penguins at the zoo, who have ostracised the gay couple from their group.
Penguins are smarter and have better ethics than America.

A little long, but that might make a good tagline.

Notice first, that this is a zoo and that these birds may have been influenced by contact with humans. Second, that they did ostracize the offenders. It seems that anthropomorphism and projection can work both ways.
Is this an article that they said Doh! after they published it?

A German zoo provoked outrage from gay lobby groups after attempting to mate a group of gay male penguins with Swedish female birds who were flown in especially to seduce them.

To assume that two birds are homosexual because they exhibit odd behaviors is absolutely ludicrous. You cannot attribute human behaviors to other species.
That's anthropomorphism.
It's ironic that they don't seem to have noticed (or failed to report) that animals under the neurosis-inducing conditions of captivity frequently manifest themselves in a variety of behaviors that are abnormal (emphasis on abnormal) to their species. That doesn't mean they are somehow “born gay”. It just means they are disturbed (well, come to think of it.... maybe????).
