I did not know that one couuld forge titanium. I think you can. I have (supposedly ) forged titanium connecting rods in my car.

No, that the guy who built you engine was. Titanium connecting rods are much more expensive than 5120 steel, and have a much shorter service life - so, unless you are in a race, the saved few ounces is not worth it.
