Bought this gun today and am asking the experts what over the counter ammo feeds through this weapon? As stated, the gun is a flat-top with a Simmons scope along with a bi-pod as the only add-on's. The serial number is BK010XXX and I believe this a post-ban weapon, correct?
I have shot competively in the past with .45 auto's and this is my first semi-auto rifle. I believe this dude will drive tack's as I have read. I just would like some overall advise.
did you get this in Chantilly? I’m heading over there tomorrow morning and I’m wondering how it was?
Nope. I got it at The Armory in Annapolis, MD. I think the guys name was Hal. I paid too much. Oh well... can’t wait to shoot it.
recommend that you feed it only .223 ammo, as marked on the barrel.
5.56 has similar exterior dimensions, but the brass itself is thicker, and works at higher pressures.
not that you couldn’t feed it 5.56 in a pinch.
my $.02 worth...
good for you.. enjoy.
Congratulations. Pretty soon you will have more I hope. So far I have 4 complete ARs of various lengths, and two more stripped lowers to build. The bedwetting liberals would have a stroke if they saw my gun storage room. Or should I say arsenal.
Nice! Built a couple of those from kits.
should work well with 55gr and 62 gr ammo.
Tell your wife that buying a gun is a great investment.
These?
If your wife will only let you have one, I’ll be happy to take one off your hands.
:)
YOU PEOPLE ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!
Try buying a Colt AR15 here in the Communist State of KALIFORNIA. If I am not mistaken, AR15 is classified as an Assault weapon.
Handguns are entirely a different breed as well. If it is on the list of ban handguns, nope can’t own it!
You’re asking what feeds? THe answer is whatever ammo that doesn’t jam. Go buy some and see for yourself.
Hint: Start with .223 remington.

That’s a lot of technical that the wife probably doesn’t appreciate. She is going to bed early you say. My wife told me after I bought a set of headers for my car and they were setting in my office: “I hope they are not too cold for you tonight”
“What is the twist?”

I like Federal in my match AR for just starting out.
I do reload for it with 69 Grain Sierra MatchKings, H335 powder and Winchester Primers.
Keep away from Wolf cartridges because of the heavy lacquer coating but any reputable cartridge will work fine.
Don’t be tempted to use the military cleaning rods. They will destroy that bore. Buy a good cleaning rod from a company called Dewey. You can order it from MidwayUSA.
Didn’t know that. This is one of the reasons I posted this question. I have been out of brass shooting for years.
Thanks
“Congratulations. Pretty soon you will have more I hope.”
That’s all I need is more expensive hobbies!!! Thanks

Do you work at Walmart? You are a wealth of information!
Do you know what the twist on the barrel is? That will often times give you an idea of what weight bullet will shoot best.
My Colt AR 15 is my “honey” rifle. Unless you handload I would suggest using Winchester .223 or Remington. I’ve never had a problem with those.
