That’s not the official group, it should be started by whomever won last year. Glock?

I only see you on there once.

Were you able to get the submit button to work after picking drivers?

Teams test at GM Proving Grounds: Working around NASCAR’s test ban, fourteen teams will wrap up three days of testing their Chevy Impala’s at the General Motors Proving Grounds today in Mesa, Arizona. Richard Childress had all four of his Sprint Cup Series teams out there. #29-Kevin Harvick’s crew chief Todd Berrier also told PRN’s Garage Pass they will test later this month on the half-mile track built just outside the big track at Rockingham and they’ll shake down their road race cars at Virginia International Raceway. Other drivers testing included Earnhardt Ganassi Racing’s #42-Juan Pablo Montoya and #8-Aric Almirola and Hendrick Motorsports teams of #5-Mark Martin, #88-Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and #24-Jeff Gordon. Also the #0 Chevy tested, but no word what team or driver.(PRN’s Garage Pass)(1-14-2009) Comment here

My first thought when I heard a plane bound for Charlotte NC had ditched in the Hudson River was to wonder if there were any Nascar related people on board. Don't JJ and Flash have apartments in NY city?

My thoughts too.

Doesn’t Jeff have his own jet? I’m not sure about JJ. will be interesting to find out the passenger manifest.

The pilot was amazing

CNN identifies the pilot of Flight 1549 as Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger.

This is providential: Sullenberger heads up an aviation safety firm. He is a USAF veteran.

He walked the plane twice to make sure no passengers were left behind.

Two passengers, Jeff Kolodnay and Alberto Panero, both recounted that the pilot advised them before making his incredible landing: “Brace for the impact.”

More from his website:

SRM Founder Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger, III is a captain for a major U.S. airline with over 40 years of flying experience. A former U.S. Air Force (USAF) fighter pilot, he has served as an instructor and Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) safety chairman, accident investigator and national technical committee member. He has participated in several USAF and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) accident investigations. His ALPA safety work led to the development of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circular. Working with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists, he coauthored a paper on error inducing contexts in aviation. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Crew Resource Management (CRM) course used at his airline and has taught the course to hundreds of his colleagues. Sully is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy (B.S.), Purdue University (M.S.) and the University of Northern Colorado (M.A.). He was a speaker on two panels at the High Reliability Organizations (HRO) 2007 International Conference in Deauville, France May 29-31, 2007. He has just been named a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. likes Memphis ribs. So much so that he has a steady supply FedEx’d to his home in North Carolina.

EarnhardtHis affinity for the city’s most sought-after cuisine was obvious during a repeat episode this month of MTV’s Cribs. It is unclear, however, when Earnhardt developed a taste for Memphis barbeque.

In his only race at Memphis Motorsports Park, the inaugural Sam’s Town 250 on Oct. 31, 1999, Earnhardt drove the No. 3 Chevrolet to a runner-up finish behind Jeff Green.

Junior also ran during a 2003 Cup Series test session at the track, and his JR Motorsports teams have competed in the Nationwide Series event at Memphis for three years in a row, with a best finish of fifth by Shane Huffman in the No. 88 in 2006.

In an attempt to entice Earnhardt back to the track, Memphis Motorsports Park is extending a standing offer of a lifetime supply of Memphis ribs in exchange for a one-time competitive run in the track’s fall Nationwide Series race on Oct. 24. (The Cup Series is at Martinsville that weekend.)

Pig-N-Whistle is the Official Barbeque Restaurant of Memphis Motorsports Park.

There has not been a reply from Earnhardt or JR Motorsports regarding the offer.

For more information or to order season tickets, call 1-866-40-SPEED or visit www.MemphisMotorsportsPark.com.

The pilot was amazing

Of course....ex-USAF Fighter jock!

That boy needs a pay raise and a 30 day vacation, no charge.

He did his job, then the flight stew's did their job.

Just amazing......thank you Lord!

Something to be said for pilots with a lot of experience. Some airlines may want to rethink making them retire at a certain age!

This man and the co-pilot [sorry I haven’t found his name yet] should get free dinners and drinks for at least a year.

Robby Gordon has moved to 3rd in the overall standing in the Dakar Rally. He is 1:18:52 back from the leading VW about 9 hours ago from Ping.fm

Hard crash at Chili Bowl

Tim is really popular in this area they say the crash was the hardest they have seen I hope he isn’t off the track too long there is a video link also of the crash. No insurance either that is terrible

McCreadie, 34, was leading a qualifying semifinal when something broke in his car’s rear end. The car flipped violently and went over a fence.

Examinations at a Tulsa hospital showed a fractured T3 vertebra and other damage. He was fitted for neck and back brace Thursday and was expected to consult with Dr. Terry Trammell, the renowned Indianapolis orthopedic surgeon.

McCreadie won the 2006 World of Outlaws late model series championship. Although he has spent much of his career racing on dirt, in 2007 McCreadie competed in six NASCAR Nationwide Series events for Richard Childress Racing.

Efforts were being made to set up a fund to assist McCreadie, who has no medical insurance, and offers of assistance with expenses have already started to come in from the racing community.

For now, donations can be made to the U.S. Auto Club and sent to USAC c/o Tim McCreadie Support Fund, USAC, 4910 West 16th Street, Speedway, Ind. 46224
