Cool. I like the Go Daddy commercials!

Might even get a pic or two of Jr during Sat's race!

Didja see that the ex-CandyMan may not have a ride next year? That will suck...

And the new format for the Bud Shootout really does suck.

But by that time I'll be ready to watch anything Nascar! This time last year I was getting hyped about seeing the testing here...:(

I think I posted upthread where heis suing GEM to uphold his contract which is through 2010. Apparently they didn’t even tell him AJ was taking over his ride, he found out through the media.

At this point in time being so late it will be difficult for him to find a ride. Too bad he didn’t stay with Yates.

I am convinced that Scary Reid needs to visit a doctor, a head shrink.

That boy ain't right!

And you saw what he said about Coleman, right - now that they worked the recount out in Franken's favor - "Coleman will never serve in the Senate!"

Ummmm....Harry, hello? Let the state of Minn. decide that. Then you follow the rules, Harry.

And NO, you can't make up your own rules!

Serious OS issues with that Reid unit.........

So, the plot thickens; and with so many unanswered questions, it appears communication is not exactly George Gillett’s priority. But assuming Allmendinger does remain number one on the minds of GEM officials, Sadler’s release could foretell an inability to expand from three to four cars in their stable — even with the additional support of Petty Enterprises.

While that merger is finally set to be announced after over a month of delays — Petty employees were reportedly informed of the decision Dec. 31 — the move looks more like picking up the scraps than actually joining forces. Almost all of Petty’s staff, which once numbered nearly 100 employees, has been laid off, and only Vice President Robbie Loomis and King Richard himself are guaranteed a role in the new “combined” organization.

That doesn’t sound like a team that’s hiring the personnel necessary to grow: and with Reed Sorenson and Kasey Kahne under contract, Gillett’s interest in Allmendinger was all that was needed for him to unceremoniously kick out Sadler, the pick of former co-owner Ray Evernham. That’s right, former co-owner: no longer involved in the day-to-day decisions of the operation. The man who spearheaded Dodge’s return to the sport in 2001 is now taking a step back from ownership to pursue his TV career with ESPN and fix up his newest purchase — a small dirt track known as East Lincoln Speedway in North Carolina.

So, long story short, there’s still a lot of variables at play here. There are only two words to describe the short-term future of the organization: stay tuned.

Thanks for the link, I had trouble with the other one. :) I thought it was a FR thread so I looked and looked and looked. LOL Anyway I’m glad they still will sponsor as I think they get a lot of buyers from Nascar. Probably more than anywhere else.

New Nationwide Series car on course for 2010 season
Economy issues may force sport to push debut back
By Reid Spencer, Sporting News Wire Service
January 8, 2009
12:04 PM EST

type size: + -More than anything else, economic conditions will determine whether NASCAR introduces a new race car to the Nationwide Series in 2010, as is currently planned, but series director Joe Balash says the sanctioning body must continue to act on the assumption that the series will have a new race car after the upcoming season.

“All of our development work is still going forward,” Balash said. “We have an engineering process and a timeline that we’re still working on. We have to be prepared to launch the new car, as we have expected, for 2010.

We’ll still work with the owners to make sure it’s the right thing to do business-wise, but we have to be prepared to [introduce the car] as we have expected, for 2010.

— JOE BALASH”Now, we’ll still work with the owners to make sure it’s the right thing to do business-wise, but we have to be prepared to [introduce the car]. So we’re still working through our processes — the wind-tunnel approvals, that type of thing — to have that new car ready.”

Reservations by Nationwide Series owners helped persuade NASCAR to push back its introduction of the car beyond 2009. Though the purpose is to produce a safer, more cost-efficient car, the expense of conversion from one car to another is significant, as owners discovered during the changeover to the new car in the Cup Series.

Add to that a challenging economy in which sponsorships are more difficult to obtain, and the decision to put the new car on hold at least until 2010 makes sense.

NASCAR’s ban on testing in 2009, a cost-saving measure that prohibits teams from testing on tracks that host events in any of NASCAR’s top-four touring series, would only add to the hardship of debuting the new car in August 2009, as NASCAR had planned to do before the economy weakened.

“We were actually going to expand our testing program for Nationwide teams, but when we saw changes happen [in the economy], we had to react,” Balash said. “We’ll do the same thing next year. It’s way too early to tell what’s going to happen in February, let alone by the time we get to January of 2010.”

When it is introduced, NASCAR’s new Nationwide car will look and drive differently from the new car that debuted in the Cup Series in 2007 and became the full-time car in 2008. The Nationwide car will feature a more traditional spoiler instead of a rear wing and a spring front suspension instead of bump stops.

Thanks for that.

Wow, did not know that most all Petty employees were let go.

Anyway ya look at, though, that was a huge dis to ES, not even the guts to tell him man to man. GEM can go suck on a flat tire as far as I'm concerned.

I don’t even know why the E is still in the name as it doesn’t seem E has anything to do with that company any longer.

Elliott Sadler, the third driver with the organization, was reportedly told he will not drive for the team in 2009. However, sources have told FOXSports.com’s Lee Spencer that he will be back.

Thursday, Jan. 08, 2009
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - Dakar Rally leader Nasser Al Attiyah was disqualified for skipping part of the sixth stage he won on Thursday.

Rally officials said Al Attiyah missed more than three hidden check points during a difficult route through the Andes foothills between San Rafael and Mendoza.

Al Attiyah, winner of the first and third stages, was leading the sixth stage by more than 20 minutes until his BMW engine overheated. The Qatar driver decided to avoid a swath of hot dunes to reduce the risk of more mechanical problems. He won the stage but race stewards decided to review his course.

With Al Attiyah out, Giniel De Villiers was declared the winner of his second successive stage in 2 hours, 12 minutes, 33 seconds, and moved to the overall lead. A flooded river ford meant the route was cut in half from 245 miles to 111.

“It was quite tricky in the beginning in the dunes,” De Villiers said. “A few times we had to turn around because we couldn’t make it up some dunes. In some places it was very soft. If it hadn’t rained last night, it would have been really, really tricky.”

The South African led a Volkswagen sweep of the podium. Mark Miller of the United States was second, 20 seconds behind, and Carlos Sainz of Spain was third, 3:20 back.

The Volkswagens also dominated the overall standings as De Villiers led Sainz by 7:39, and Miller was 17:51 behind in third. NASCAR driver Robby Gordon was fourth overall.

I think Gillette is known for this kind of behavior and then there’s thepossibility that he can’t afford the lawsuit.

I haven’t checked the news today. :D
