Hi! I should be working on stuff for Girl Scouts right now. How I wish I still didn’t have six more months of this!
I sent an email out to the all the troop members (and some who’ve contacted us but not been seen), and mentioned that I needed a co-leader. Well, a mom who had earlier said she was interested, but then didn’t stay for the last meeting or ask me about registration, took a snit because I seemed, I guess, to be rejecting her offer. Says her daughter won’t come to the troop again. So now I’ve apologized, explaining that it’s a misunderstanding that’s all my fault, and we’ll see what happens.
Honestly, this just wears me out. I’m not the world’s greatest Girl Scout leader, I admit, but I’m there every meeting doing things with the girls, and I’m trying. I just need to think about my nice girls who don’t have cranky parents, and muddle on through this.
My mother used to tell me, when people acted like that, to “consider the source.” Maybe that’s what the woman grew up with, and doesn’t realize how bad she appears.
You should probably just forgive the stupidity, and go on about your business. Why would you want an attitude like that around you every time you had to plan something for the GS?
I admire you for all you do, and think you are pretty darn awesome as a mother, a teacher, a friend and a woman. You shouldn’t have to apologize to anyone who is that selfish.
Hang in there, Girl! *HUG*
