Not defending McNabb, but it is a stupid rule. They should play until someone scores or until one coach withdraws and “gives” the game to the other team.

If they can’t resolve it in overtime, they should go to the format they use in college football for overtime.

Given the way NFL standings work a tie is as good as a loss. If two teams go 5 quarters without being able to figure out who wins they deserve the hit in the standings.

“Withdraws and gives the game to other team”.......don’t you think that might harmful to a coaches longevity with his team?

Why? There’s no point for people in the pros to be playing for too long in a non-playoff game; the longer you play, the more tired you are, the more likely it is you get injured. It’s only happened 17 times since the sudden death rule was introduced, and only twice in the last six years years.

Heck, the New York Giants went 10-5-1 in 1997.

Were it a playoff game, where a winner MUST be decided, the game will be in play until someone scores. The longest a playoff game has gone on in that fashion has been double overtime.

After one scoreless OT, they should go to the college OT rules.
