I know this will expose me as only a general enthusiast of the shooting
sports.
As about all I’ve heard of non-standard ammo loads for shotguns
is the old “rock salt” load to discourage kids trying to steal watermelons!!!
Maybe that’s just a “rural legend” from my youth in Oklahoma!
I bet I could get a better penetration factor of still using 16 dimes but gluing 4 dimes together and having 4 groups.
Actually this would fall into a pretty good at home defense round because of the lack of penetration to go through walls.
