First, let me say that my father-in-law is a dyed-in-the-wool conservative,well-educated and intellectual, and he and I spend every Sunday afternoon having long, drawn-out discussions about politics that we both enjoy very much.

Is it that hard to imagine two people with different opinions having a good-natured discussion? I’m trying to open a dialogue about why things are going wrong, for both sides, and this is the best question you can ask?
