People and reactions like you’ve described go far beyond mere politics. I’m convinced these types of people have real issues that have very little to do with Democrat or Republican, but have everything to do with seeking a conduit for their hate and anger. They need and find a convenient scapegoat on which to spew their venom.
There really is no intellectual argument, objectivity or even sanity. It would be interesting to know what the hosts/homeowner/s thought about this episode and if they, or any one else for that matter, took any action against this asshat. My guess is they just looked away and took a sip of their Chardonnay.:)
I think liberals are so rabidly emotional about politics precisely because they usually are not religious people.
Politics has taken the place of their religion. They are fanatic about it because they are desperately pretending there isn’t a great big hole in their souls.
They seem obsessed with getting everyone around them to think just as they do. A two-bit psychologist would probably say they are profoundly insecure. I believe that insecurity is caused by the subconscious knowledge they’ve rejected God.
Liberals are often the rudest people in the room. Conservatives are usually polite to a fault.
