I hadn’t been following FR much over the weekend, but I hope you and your families stay safe.
I checked with Orange County relatives this a.m., and my cousin’s house narrowly escaped the flames, just needs smoke clean-up, thanks!!
My son and his family are safe (I am SO thankful).
He called this morning and told me the smoke is almost gone.
My heart goes out to all those that have lost everything they have. Today, as I walked around my house, I looked with a ‘new’ eye, at the treasures I have amassed (thinking of all those thousands, who have lost everything):
My grandaughter’s hundreds of pictures since birth, my grandaughter’s handprints in clay, the necklace my first grandchild made me, the little bag of earth from La Capilla Del Santo Nino De Atocha, the old child’s rocking horse with glass eyes, and horsehair tail, the little shoes from a grandma’s trunk a hundred years ago, my half doll, Mr. Bob, (who always loves me no matter what), the Ivory Nativity scene my father bought my mother, spending rent and grocery money for, the volumes of James Whitcomb Riley’s works, my grandma’s rolling pin and the vase she put on the table every day with fresh flowers, the mirror my parents got as a wedding gift - 70 years ago, my music selection on hundreds of CD’s, my laptop - my desk top - OMG - there are SO many things that have a place in my life - my heart.
But the one thing I could not manage without? My family - and my friends, online and off. As long as I have you all (and them), I will make it.
Hugs to you all - and prayers for all those who have lost so very much.
