Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

November 7, 2008
Waiting
Make haste to help me, O Lord! —Psalm 70:1

Make haste to help me, O Lord!” the psalmist David prayed (Ps. 70:1). Like him, we don’t like to wait. We dislike the long lines at super-market checkout counters, and the traffic jams downtown and around shopping malls. We hate to wait at the bank or at a restaurant.

And then there are the harder waits: a childless couple waiting for a child; a single person waiting for marriage; an addict waiting for deliverance; a spouse waiting for a kind and gentle word; a worried patient waiting for a diagnosis from a doctor.

What we wait for, however, is far less important than what God is doing while we wait. In such times He works in us to develop those hard-to-achieve spiritual virtues of meekness, kindness, and patience with others. But more important, we learn to lean on God alone and to “rejoice and be glad” in Him (v.4).

F. B. Meyer said, “What a chapter might be written of God’s delays! It is the mystery of the art of educating human spirits to the finest temper of which they are capable. What searchings of heart, what analyzings of motives, what testings of the Word of God, what upliftings of soul. . . . All these are associated with those weary days of waiting, which are, nevertheless, big with spiritual destiny.”

Be still, My child, and know that I am God!
Wait thou patiently—I know the path you trod.
So falter not, nor fear, nor think to run and hide,
For I, thy hope and strength, am waiting by thy side. —Hein

God stretches our patience to enlarge our soul.

Lady Jag!! I live near Poughkeepsie, NY. It is quite rural area for so south in NY state. My husband was home last year because we had a carpenter friend working on the house. They took a lunch break and when they looked up from their newpapers a 600 pound brown bear was outside our bay window!! He walked away peacefully but my Oreo{Yes, black and white cat} was about that close to the bear. Sorry, we did not get a picture. And my husband had the same comment, how can the cat get that close and be ok. 9 lives?? Sorry to report I’ve had to stop filling the birdfeeders in the warm months{I really miss the birds} but winter is around the corner again! Thanks

I may be a day late and a dollar short but I promised you a horse yesterday. I found the horse yesterday but didn't have time to shrink and downsize until today. It took a little away when I downsized but not bad. Saw all the beautiful horse graphics yesterday and they all were lovely!

Oh Mayor!!!
Did I need this ODB today!
Thank you so much.
Good Morning to the rest of you here at Amy's Place!
I am not sure if you all are going through the same feelings as I am ,but I have been very down and feeling overwhelmed with " where from here"!

We are raising our 10 year old grandson.
Our public educational system is the pits, and we don't have the money to put him in private school. We don't feel adequate to homeschool, and even wonder with a Obama administration if that will be severely attacked!

Just wonderful to know that God is still on the Throne.

Waving Good Morning from my kitchen table....

Polly

PRETTY MUCH SUMS IT UP.....

Dear Fellow Business Owners:

As a business owner who employs 120 people, we have resigned ourselves to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next president, and that our taxes and fees will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, we figure that the Customer will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8-10%. We will also have to lay off 25 of our employees. This really bothered us as we believe we are family here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what we did.

We strolled thru the parking lot and found twenty Obama bumper stickers on our employees cars. We have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

We can’t think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.

We are sending this letter to all business owners that we know.

Meg! you got a pix of me just before I fell!

Ha!

Well I did that sort of things years ago with ballet company - never in a river bed however.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE BIRTHDAY GREETINGS!

It was a good day

The Cleveland ART Museums Special Exhibition was outstanding & much larger than I expected. Took about 4.5 hours to go through & at a brisk rate.

It was titled Artistic Luxury (the works of Fabrege, Tiffany, Lalique).

Cleveland museum Art

My knowledge of art is like my knowledge of music & politics - a bit spotty. I knew Faberge eggs & Tiffany lamps & store in NYC but that was about it n Never even heard of Lalique. But the wonderful presentation educated me! If it gets to you area well worth seeing. The collection was assembled from museums & private collections around the world & was priced at 18.00 which is about standard for most of the special presentations which can range from 15 - 50 as I have observed. My host graciously payed for not only me but three others in our group

Downer was my back which was heavy pain the entire time & I rested /sat (on floor) many times

After this we got some dinner & I came home & slept solidly about three hours.

A Browns win in PM would have been nice - but again eluded our team

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Could they be clydsdales? They appear very large, and the heavy fur on the leg is a sign of the clydsdales.

Could be, for sure. They do look like draft horses, and Clydesdales do have that beautiful long hair above the hoof (love the Budweiser horses!)

Another draft horse that has the same long hair at the feet is the Percheron. My husband watches the RFD channel a lot, and I always love seeing the horse farms with breeds I've never heard of! Many of them have the long hair at the hoof. But at any rate, they're all beautiful to me! :)

Good Support Our Troops - Wear Red on Friday Morning, Amy.

Had a GREAT choir rehearsal last night. 50+guys, 2 ladies (one active duty) blended their voices and it sounded terrific. I’ve been looking forward to this Veteran’s Choir and singing in the three church services for over two months (can ya tell I’m excited?)

Lots of other Veteran’s Day events scheduled in the area beginning today and running through Tuesday.

Hi, all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple... Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute (How about 20 seconds) to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Didn't see the link but I found it, and DONE! Have not read replies beyond this one, and in case anyone didn't get the link, it is here:
