This is my first post ever, so forgive me if it is posted incorrectly.
I live in Austin, TX and today is the first day of early voting. I just voted and was really disheartened to see lots of Obama bumper stickers in the parking lot, and none for McCain. I am really worried that there will be a huge turnout for Obama, and I am praying for our country that the McCain side will be mobilized enough to come out and vote. I know we have the numbers to win the election, I just hope that people are motivated enough to vote!
Also, when I was in line, I saw someone with an Obama t-shirt on. I pulled aside a pollworker and verified that this is not allowed. She went and talked with the head person in charge and they had him turn the t-shirt inside out. The problem was that you could see the Obama logo quite plainly through the white t-shirt, so turning it inside out did nothing. Not a super a big deal, but it shows the ignorance of the Obama voter, and the inability of the polling place to control this type of "campaigning."
Or, if you prefer: Loose lips sink ships.
I never missed an election when I was a child, my parents took me to vote with them and it was not a problem. Even the littlest ones can wait for you to vote.
Most places will have things for the kids to do, ballots the kids can use to vote on as well (not real ones).
You do your children a service to bring them to the polls, it will help them to learn the meaning of their republic, and the fact that it takes _citizens_ voting and running the polls to keep it.
After reading through your posts you are CLEARLY A TROLL!
“Crystal Cove” is a TROLL!
The DailyKOS eageraly awaits your drivel!
Cheer up girl! Austin is "san fran way out yonder" (queer capital) of Texas. I did vote early in the NW part of Travesty county too. The line was quite long out here, but most will be doing what I did - straight (R).
I "axed" the two BO supporters why they didn't have their table at least 100' from the voting entrance. They said "Why?" and I replied, "It's the LAW."
I’m not sure you understood. My kids do come with me to the polls. They know who I am voting for and why. However, I would rather vote early and wait 20 minutes, than vote on election day and wait for hours.
They're paying $5 per sign. They are "afraid of Obama."
We're charging $5 for the signs because we had to pay for them. Some are getting 2 signs and giving us $20 and don't want change.
Dems paying for something?! I thought the world owed them a living. Nonetheless, we'll take whatever support we can get. I think many are "afraid of Obama."
These are typical TX conservative Dems—not the radical libs. Many TX Dems vote Repub in presidential elections...and they really are afraid of Obama...just like we are.
Your vote is secure as any will be on election day. Don’t fall for the naysayers. I voted today and honestly there was a very small turnout which surprised me. Somewhere around 30% or greater will be the votes cast in early voting in TX if it holds to past elections. Statewide we’ve had an increase in registration which may help early voting turnout.
Texas will go McCain by a good margin, Cronyn will win going away and most other incumbents will be re-elected including the democratic ones.
People from other states truly don’t understand the old timer conservative democrat in Texas do they?.... I voted today and turnout was lite at the location where I voted.
It was heavy here.
