Why wouldn't they have tongues? Eyes in organisms on Earth have developed over 40 times independently. I'm sure aliens that evolve in liquids could resemble Dolphins and Ichthyosaurs because that shape allows efficient and fast movement.

Reportedly they eat via some slurry on their skin. Which gets into a whole ‘nother kettle of . . . wellll . . . not fish.

Seems to me that tongues were missing on at least one ‘race’ of them.
