Maybe because I'm from south Texas, but; I don't think so.
there is a banana belt up that way in Canada......warm valleys.....seems to be a lot of Hispanic influence in some areas....fresh peaches etc available.....it was surprising to me when I first went there too.....
Some cryptozoologists believe the Basilosaurus to be the leading candidate for the lake monster reported in Lake Okanagen in British Columbia, affectionately known as Ogopogo. It is also believed to be the most likely candidate as well for the Cadborosaurus reported off the coast of British Columbia, known as Caddy.
Certainly looks hot & dry :-)

Actually, it is. Canada’s only desert is not far from Kelowna, in a place called Osoyoos.
There are rattle snakes all thru the hills in and around Kelowna/Vernon, and as you would know coming from Texas, rattlers like it hot and dry, and come out to play when it is muggy.
That said, South Texas would be a bit warmer.
ah, but it is true. Southern BC has cactus, scorpions and rattlesnakes. :)
