A grade of B is about right, maybe B- on substance, B+ on presentation.

She cannot bs as confidently as Biden or Obama, and is forced to pivot to her talking points way too much. But she did not lose the debate, which is an accomplishment. She definitely saved her political career, and may be a player in 2012.

The debate will not affect the polls. The bailout will pass tomorrow, and the market reaction next week will be the most important thing in the news cycle.

Reaction? Biden is a socialist drone that carries the water for the democratic party. The guy is a nightmare. I can't believe anyone would listen to this guy and think "Yeah, I like those ideas, I want him helping make decisions and running things." Our Founding Fathers have got to be spinning in their graves.

I've been on the front lines of the Cold War for 20+ years. I'll be damned if I'll cede control of the country to unrepentant socialists like Binden and Obama.

She definitely is more charming and much easier to look at - she has a professionalism and integrity that you normally don’t find in politics.

And that's why she won. Perception is reality. Although I thought she did just fine on the issues for a rookie.

The closing remark was the best thing I have heard in this campaign. About time somebody isn’t afraid to say being an American is a joy.

She SMOKED him,Kicked his ASS! There was one point where the camera showed Biden dumbfounded when she verbally smacked him down.

"The guy on CBS just said if anyone was expecting a ‘deer in the headlights’ experience out of Palin they can now forget it."

Thank you for telling me that! I can't watch CBS, but for them to say that! YHEEEEEEE - HAW!

"I’m sorry - you are correct. I should have said “verifiable.” The point being that he gave specific, substantive answers to questions while Palin frequently retreated to the comfort of “Maverick,” “soccer/hockey moms” and “Joe Six-Pack” cliches."

You saw somthing different than I did. Joe Biden is a loser. Sara Palin ,if she was cut loose, would have cut Biden into small shreds.

I am pinching myself that this isn’t a dream. Because I didn’t see things the way everyone else has. I think I saw things the way you did. I had to leave the room, because I could just imagine everyone laughing and making fun of her!

Yes, my wife and I had that feeling too, but further into the debate Palin did better and became more confident. I just wish she had never done that interview with Couric, as it has tarnished her in a way that will not be forgotten by some, regardless of how she performed tonight.

Nope. Listened to the debate on the radio. She couldn’t talk a straight line to save her soul. I can only hope her telegenic qualities soothed the minds of the TV zombies. BTW, I would guess Biden had the questions in advance - too smooth and too quick.

Oh, it’s CBS, don’t get too excited. They had their ‘internal polls’ after that...didn’t explain the method....it was a hatchet job on Palin. Perky Katie interviewed Lieberman and he got in a nice shot about the ‘media’...directed at her interviews. That was sweet.

...Biden. He started out strong, but when she hit him with the bloggers and pundits would sort out who is telling who said what, he got really really quiet. Ooops, Joe. :-)

I only wish Sarah could have addressed better Biden's lies, especially about Freddie and Fannie.

But yes, the bully Biden did get quiet (LOL) when Sarah pointed out that others will be dealing with and correcting Biden's lies.

“”The guy on CBS just said if anyone was expecting a ‘deer in the headlights’ experience out of Palin they can now forget it.””

BTW, it was Jeff Greenfield who said that. He said Sarah passed the Tina Fay test.

"issues"

He didn't actually have her on all the issues, but there were some important ones she could have easily refuted...on the regulatory business she should have handed Biden his head, but she let him get away with it. She did catch Biden on the coal thing and put him on the defense concerning Iraq. Overall she could have done better pointswise. The thing is she sounded and looked confident and assured after a somewhat nervous start. She showed she belonged on the national stage something she had to prove to a lot of people. Even the Dems who claimed Biden won the debate were forced to admit she gave a good performance. Myself, I rated it about even as far as scoring points.

I also noticed him fidgeting near the end of the debate, at one point stroking his neck, almost immediately scratching under his nose. The only physical thing I noticed that went wrong with her was her hair. At one point, one of the bangs was in her left eye, and as she blinked, it moved rather dramatically. She must have brushed it out while Plugs was speaking, because later on I noticed that wasn’t happening anymore.

“...McCain’s efforts to improve oversight of Freddie/Fannie in 2005. When the opening was there, Palin talked of other aspects of the financial crisis. “

Maybe you were out of the room, but Gov. Palin did mention this twice and Biden disagreed with that comment at least once.

I look at it as a raw novice holding her own against a career politician and still making some valid points.

Much was not expected from Palin. I think she met the challenge.

“As a debate scored by points, yes she lost, hands down. I don’t see how she could have won, when Biden knows McCain better than she does.”

Maybe you didn’t understand the issues well enough to realize how many mistakes, or misrepresentations, or lies, Biden had in his responses. And on major policy responses. Commentators have counted six to ten already. Some were whoppers and they will get into the news tomorrow, at least the non MSM news.

She won the debate on the issues because she was more factual.
