I would consider Dr. Laura to be a “conservative voice”, but I think that her view reflects a very small minority on this issue.
I like Governor Palin. I think McCain has made a very good choice, which is both strategically shrewd and practical, as well.

It happened to my mom at 17. Her mom at 24. My aunts and great aunts. My grandmother and her sisters were born in the 1800’s so this is not a new phenomenon. I'm not bragging about it, but it happens, and people used to do the right thing and got married and stayed married.

you don’t know that the absence of the mom at home hurt the daugther. 17 year olds will get pregnant. It’s as simple as that.

"Dr. Laura" is a shrill, mean-hearted little harpy of a woman who lives in a glass house.

Justifying poor behavior by pointing out someone elses *worse* behavior is what liberals do. I doubt Dr. Laura got on the air and first said she had never made any mistakes in her own life before disagreeing with the popular think on the topic of the Palin family situation.
Amen to that. I am very disappointed by the reactions I see on this thread. Dr. Laura gave an opinion. That's what she does for a living. People don't like the opinion, so they trash Dr. Laura on a personal level? That is the M.O. of the Left. We are also seeing Dr. Laura get trashed as a "prude"? In my opinion, we need more prudes in this country and less MTV sluts.

Possibly true, but as my wife says, were not voting for mother of the year, were voting for a president and vice president. Just remember, John Edwards won "Father of the Year 2007" and that Hulk Hogan (who is said to have had an affair with his daughter's best friend) was also on the bench:

The threshold for such formal titles isn't as high as you might think.

The last time I listened to her was about 10 years ago. I was in the car with my two sons, then 11 and 14, and I had to switch stations because of the gutter terminology she used in talking about sex. Thankfully, WLS pulled the plug on this self-righteous harpy not long afterward.

” [Dr.Laura] Shes more than paid for that mistake over the years already. Why is it that every time she disagrees with you all do you feel the need to attack her on that same point again? When is enough enough? Can she ever be forgiven?”
You don’t think Kristol Palin is paying for her mistake? Where’s the forgiveness for her?

There has been a ton of Freepers that have criticized J.C. Watts for his youthful indiscretion that resulted in a son out of wedlock.
J.C. didn't marry the mother, but has always taken responsibility for his child.

“you dont know that the absence of the mom at home hurt the daugther. 17 year olds will get pregnant. Its as simple as that.”
Depends on how you RAISE them.
To RAISE them means being there.
Mr. Mom apparently didn’t have enough time nor did Mom.

Of course Bristol is paying now in a very public arena and of course, it is very unfair to her. However, Dr. Laura did not put Bristol in that public arena. Someone who might have thought more about what all of this could do to Bristol put her there.
Bristol is a victim perhaps of unintended consequences but really, her mother needed to weigh that against her own ambitions before she made the decision to accept the ticket. I feel very sorry for Bristol but I can’t blame Dr. Laura for the position Bristol is in.

She is living in a glass house. Her son was thrown out of one or two colleges (Hillsdale was one of them). Her son, the army paratrooper she is so proud of, got MySpace removed from all our armed forces because of the MANY hideous photos and truly sick drawings he had on his site, including stick figures raping while a Mother looks on (issues????)...
Only read more (or google even worse) if you dare.

She has released someone with possibly psycho tendencies on the world; she should not criticize other parents.

Her shtick gets old. I always thought that she found morality when she became older and, perhaps, less interested in her immoral lifestyle. Now, all of a sudden no one can do what she used to do because she doesn’t want to do it anymore.

That’s funny, considering as I recall, Dr. Laura said her husband stayed home with her son while she worked and she stayed home while he worked. Maybe instead of having a radio career she should have stayed home until he left for college.
