Today Is "Neither Rain Nor Snow" Day
It celebrates the opening of the New York Post Office
building on this day in 1914.
This following inscription was inscribed on the building:
"Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night ,stays
these couriers from the swift completion of their
appointed rounds."

Meg, you've outdone yourself this morning. All of your posts are so nice, beautiful, and informative, I just want to give you one big "thank you" for all. I also looked at all the lovely 'grandparents day' poetry. How sweet they are! Glad to know you are feeling better to get all that done. We are giving my son a surprise birthday party today so I will be busy for the rest of the day. Hope all our FRiends have a beautiful Sunday.

... nor heavy rains and snows, nor sunstroke and heat exhaustion, nor blackouts and eclipses, nor work stoppages and slowdowns, nor big dogs and ferocious cats, not going postal and federal holidays--oh well, you see why the building inscription was never adopted as the U.S. Postal Service's motto.
