Women in Politics
Self | Vanity

After steeling myself through the Democratic extravafrenzy I had to keep remembering the circus was all display and glitz having nothing to do with the future of our nation.

It is my first vote and I alternated between panic, confusion, anger, disgust and other assorted "feelings". To be honest I had considered skipping my vote entirely because my vote before yesterday would have been a throwaway. Dishonest.

There seemed no hope and after the final Last Act of the Obama Circus, I stayed up all night wondering what I should do to get through this. I prayed and that calmed me down.

I wrote to a friend in Canada around 3am telling her I wished Sarah Palin had been chosen - to add some fresh air to the stale old political speechifying, only the faces were different but the words always seem to be the same speech rewritten - nothing new.

One hour later I heard a little blurb on the radio about a leak concerning Sarah Palin. I nearly fainted. Hope surged in my heart and my stomach began to settle - and by the time I heard her speech introducing herself to the crowd, I was in tears.

Why am I writing this? A simple reason we all know and speak about: Prayers do work.

Mine did and I wanted to share with all of you - Sarah Palin was indeed invited to shake up the status quo. Whatever happens after the final election seems not so bad now because the beauty of this nation is it never gives up!

Amen. I did too. The night before I had asked God to bless us with THIS pro-life woman. I am so sick to death with the dems and their description of what a woman should be if running in the political arena,pro-choice. I pray that Sarah can be a light to women to show them they don’t have to be pro-choice to be in a leadership position. What has the dems did for women but make sure they don’t breed. Right after Sarah was announced the liberals started calling her names and the favorite, breeder!

Yes, prayers do work.

But, politics is not the whole of life — it’s hard to remember when we read so much of it or see it on tv. I try to remind myself that no matter who gets elected, people will still work hard, take care of their families, enjoy time with friends, and pray. Life goes on.

Over the course of any of our lifetimes, the political scene swings like a pendulum. Often, I can’t see it until much later, but I think a lot of negative things pave the way for a greater positive— it’s hard to imagine Ronald Reagan’s first landslide in 1980 without the disaster of Carter’s preceding 4 years. So, no matter how the election goes, it will be fine in the long run.

I agree.

We have to both remember God is in control as well as Germany circa 1933.
