The only other good route would be US 90 at Beaumont to houston.

Here is a link to a local Beaumont TV station. It has evacuation route information. Hope this helps!

Can they go north and get on 90?
I just ran a MapQuest search for routes from Beaumont to Houston, but maybe it would work better if you did it, because I don’t know that area at all.

doesn't seem too bad just now ... looks like the storm has stalled from the radar
I'll look up the tides

While anything's possible, and hurricane intensification forecasting is more black art than science, I'd have to say that I doubt a repeat of Camille (or even Katrina) is likely. Mainly, because Camille spent about 48 hours in the GoM after crossing across Cuba. Gustov will spend less than 36 hours before hitting W of NO. Those extra 12 hours in 88
o F. GoM waters would make a universe of difference to Gustov.
My target has been Lake Charles area, but farther E, e.g., Vermillion Bay is quite reasonable.

Some of the early forecasts I saw DID have it going through the Keys and into the Gulf....the current forecast have it going to Florida, but most of the models are pointing further north.
I just WISH I lived in the Keys. The fishermen in my family are dying to come try out Islamorada.

Check mail.
I don’t watch much TV. Nagin’s an idiot and idiots rarely change. That explains his re-election too.
I really think this thing will trend east. In other words, that first post may end up a “best case scenario”.
Gus isn’t a monster, yet.

High Tides 9:30 tonight at the White Street pier that's good ... about 10:00 am tomorrow ... that's not so good
