Ohjeez. Does the utility company there give you “rebates” for insulation projects?
If they do, I’d be doing all I could to caulk the cracks and insulate wherever possible.
I have a friend in Boston who uses fuel oil. I don’t envy her!
We’re renting and the landlord isn’t in a hurry to fix anything. We’re putting plastic on the windows for winter and doors back in where the last tenants broke them. They were a little dysfunctional. The house is a 1930’s colonial built on the original farmhouse foundation. It’s big and drafty but every room had doors in order to keep the heat in the rooms. There’s a lovely set of french doors still in the dining room. The doors for the living room were broken. They just need new glass, The french door to the garden/florida room has broken wood. We’re hoping to find someone, a carpenter, to fix it. Not much that one can do with the nearly 80 yr old windows.
