I pray that you can have the same comfort I had when my grandmother died. She had been ill and in pain.
He was *very* good, and in a hour or so it was resolved to:
- a small family-only formal service with Eucharist right then
- the Union Gospel Mission, which holds Friday services at the nursing home, would incorporate this next Friday; all she needs to do is to provide a biography
- a get-together at a bar called the Beverage Hall (or something like that) where their friends and her co-workers could come (with perhaps some words and a prayer by the minister)
And the hoped-for "celebration of his life" party to be held some time later, when she has time to plan for it.
She was SO much more relaxed after.
We're going to miss him, though by then he was lost to us anyway.
