It probably won’t start raining as soon as midnight, although we might see an outer band by then. I don’t think we’ll really see that we’re in a tropical system until 5 a.m. or so. It depends on how close you live to Galveston.
The developments in the past hour are not helpful. The center has reformed in the storm to the NNE of the prior one, and it’s now stacked with the lower level circulation under the mid-level circulation.
That suggests it will strengthen and form a visible eye and potentially develop into a hurricane overnight.
And worse, it slightly delays when the center of the storm will arrive. Instead of by noon for the worst of it, it might be 2 pm now with the “eye” further east than it used to be. That it gives it two more hours over hot water.
