I missed this post earlier today - do you know what kind of flower that is? I’ve never seen one like it. You take great pictures of nature, Kitty. :)
It is indeed..
Thank you, (((Billie)))

Yes, I expected it to be quiet today, and it's just as well because I wasn't going to be able to be here much either.
Did you and JK get the carpeting down on the patio? I bet it looks nice and your mom is smiling her approval. I'd think it would be a good place for you to sit when you need some real quiet time.
Yes, we got it down and it does look nice. It's an indoor-outdoor carpet, but it looks like Berber. The patio is actually like a room because it is completely enclosed except for one side. This carpet really finishes it off. My mom would have loved it. She spent a lot of time on her patio, sitting on her glider. She could see her roses and the bird bath and the jasmine along the fence. She called her patio her "sanctuary". When I want to be with her, I go out on her patio. I feel her out there more than anywhere in the house. :-)
G'nite, sistah. See you here tomorrow.
Good night and God bless, sweet Kitty Mittens. I love everything you bring to Amy’s Place. That peach rose is so very pretty.
The road officially received its name, The Going-to-the-Sun Road, during the 1933 dedication at Logan Pass. The road borrowed its name from nearby Going-to-the-Sun Mountain. Local legend, and a 1933 press release issued by the Department of the Interior, told the story of the deity, Sour Spirit, who came down from the sun to teach Blackfeet braves the rudiments of the hunt. On his way back to the sun, Sour Spirit had his image reproduced on the top of the mountain for inspiration to the Blackfeet. An alternate story suggests a white explorer in the 1880s concocted the name and the legend.

Sports brings out the best and the worst in people. The news media often focus on the worst. Those who comfort players with Its not whether you win or lose that counts; its how you play the game seldom make world news. But once in a while they do.
After a baseball team from Georgia defeated a team from Japan in the Little League World Series, one reporter wrote: The boys from Warner Robins left a lasting impression of their inner character for the world to see. They proved again, its not whether you win or lose that counts. It is, how you play the game.
When the losing players broke down in tears, the winning team members stopped their victory celebration to console them. I just hated to see them cry, said pitcher Kendall Scott, and I just wanted to let them know that I care. Some referred to the moment as sportsmanship at its best.
It was indeed heartwarming, but it points out that sportseven at its bestis an imperfect metaphor for Christianity. In sports, someone always loses. But when someone is won to Christ, the only loser is Satan.
For Christians, true teamwork is not about defeating opponents; its about recruiting them to join our team (1 Cor. 9:19-22).
Monday morning and I’m still trying to see all the pretty things I missed. Had a busy weekend, with some laziness, but I have viewed Saturday’s and Sunday’s threads and they were all lovely of course.
Billie, the Betty Boops were all cute and pretty and so was everyone’s graphics, words, etc.
Just enjoyed Louie Armstrong, he just can’t be beat. What a precious graphic with it, Lori!
I will not get to answer all as I have an appointment today but Meg’s flowers from Sunday were beautiful and so were Kitty’s. Thanks to everyone!
Thanks for the devotional and Bible reading this morning, Mr. Mayor. A good start for Monday and I need it.
Theodore Cole and Ralph Roe disappeared from Alcatraz on 16 December 1937 and were never seen again. Prison authorities believed they had drowned. A San Francisco Chronicle reporter declared four years later that they were still alive in South America. Clarence Anglin, his brother John, and Frank Morris also disappeared from Alcatraz on 11 June 1962 and were never seen again. Their escape was made famous by Clint Eastwood's movie. Prison authorities also believed they had drowned. During the last escape from Alctraz, John Paul Scott, 35-years old, swam from the island to Fort Point, under the southern part of the Golden Gate Bridge, proving that it could be done by a convict. That was 25 years later to the day after Cole and Roe escaped. As a Federal Penitentiary and from a total of 1,033 prisoners, 34 men had attempted to escape in fourteen (14) separate attempts; of those, 23 were caught, 6 were shot and killed, and 5 are missing and assumed by Prison Authorities to have drowned. Alcatraz Federal penitentiary was officially closed on March 21, 1963. Excerpts from Escape from Alcatraz |
Darling graphic, Billie, and how true it is about the sand!!
“Be still my Heart”.....now I know WHY I love Taylor! Thats the kind of music he does that I adore. I got very sentimental listening to that. That was played or sung,at my oldest son’s wedding....trying to think who made it popular back then, can’t think of his name (the very popular blind singer) why do I have such a mental block on that? I know it as well as my own name........duh?
See everyone later...gotta do some work now!

Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
(scat bung, bung, bung, bung)
Mr. Sandman (male voice: Yesss?) bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes with a come-hither gleam
Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace
Mr Sandman, someone to hold (someone to hold)
Would be so peachy before we're too old
So please turn on your magic beam
Mr Sandman, bring us, please, please, please
Mr Sandman, bring us a dream.
(scat bung, bung, bung, bung .)
