I have been curious about this book, had heard that it was a good character study and very well written. Thank you!

I haven’t read much SF but would like to. I feel really out of the loop because most people I know do read it and love it. Thank you!

I agree about “Fear No Evil.” It was an experience. And I’ve read the Orwell ones. The others sound very interesting too, thank you!

"I'm like a cat. ;)"

If you truly are, then you have it all figured out.

Observe a cat without any judgment. Notice they don't use labels or words. They are completely and totally in the Now. How we can be, with practice. Be. ;-)

If you can find A New Earth in your collecting, that's a good as the Power and somewhat less heady. Good luck! ;)

Thank you, I’m very interested about Iran right now and sometimes the real technical stuff is too deep for me so that sounds great as well as the others. :-)

I second that recommendation.

On the pure fiction side, I'll throw in most anything by Allistair Maclean.

Science Fiction - Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle wrote three books in the late 70's and early 80's that I consider to be great. The Mote in God's Eye, Lucifer's Hammer and Footfall

I'll second that, and add the Ringworld and Rama series to the list.

“The Black Swan” and “Fooled by Randomness” by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. Taleb goes into detail on how unforseen circumstances disproportionately affect both previous common wisdom, as well as shape the consensus that follows, through man’s tendency towards revisionism (which I like to call the Monday morning quarterback effect).

I have to think on that, there have been so many. Off the top of my head:

The Bible
Gone With the Wind
Roots
(some) Greg Iles mysteries
The Kite Runner
The Other Boleyn Girl
The Looming Tower
Nicholas Sparks books(romance novel author)
Marley & Me
Jodi Piccoult books (like My Sister’s Keeper)

Many more and I will add to this. Thank you for asking.
