1. Nobody here said that Larry deserved to be murdered.

It sure seems like some were supporting the MURDERER. When someone in an earlier post said that Larry deserves it -- that is when I got upset. NOONE deserves to die.

2. I'm fairly libertarian in my politics, but some things aren't normal.

I'm not sure if homosexuality is 'normal' or not. Just look at ancient Greece. It was 'normal' (look at the art works on the pottery), but was it? I'm not sure. However, I'm not sure if homosexuality is a gene or not.

Guys acting effemite and wearing dresses is not normal.

Agree with you on that. Thou my Dad said that a kid he went to school with makes 125K a year being Marilyn Monroe. My friends said that being a girl is not what they want.

Now that does not mean that Larry deserved to be murdered.

Agreed. now if Larry was being a slut towards Brandon, maybe Brandon was unsure of his sexuality. Brandon, it seemed didn't have the best homelife (neither did Larry, thou how much of it was caused by his birth mom's drug use?) so maybe he could ask his dad when his dad was around.

What it does mean is that Larry needed a dose of reality from mom, dad, and the school so that he had better situational awareness.

Again, how much of Larry's problem was caused by hisbio-mom's drug use. It seemed like his adoptive parents were trying to help him. (Of couse, it seemed that his dad didn't like gays. I did read the article and it seems his dad was not supportive.) I don't know about CasaPacific but maybe it was a place to help him be 'normal' (Whatever normal is!)

If I walked around the projects in flashy expensive clothes, I wouldn't deserve to get murdered, but I would be putting myself in a dangerous situation that is avoidable.

I agree, however, I doubt that my friends would ever be in flashy expensive clothes. Give us a pair of Wrangler jeans and a T-shirt and that would be our 'dress up for school' uniform. :-)

Quit the all caps stuff and calm down.

Sorry! I am now calm, but I believe that it seemed to me some were happy about Larry. I just got mad because to me it is no big deal about it. I guess that us teens are used to it. I can't explain it but think about what Hollyweird is trying to do to TV. (a gay character on mainstream tv shows).

RightWingTeen, in my introductory paragraph, I made my sympathy for the murder victim quite clear. It is you who are jumping to stereotypical conclusions. I am terrible sorry this kid was so horribly failed by the many who had chances to do right by him.

To expect fellow classmates to calmly and rationally accept his bizarre and harassing behavior is not reasonable. Nobody should have shot him. But teenagers are not rational a lot of the time. We all know it, so why do we put them in situations of extreme stress like this?

Were I subject to that sort of harassment at work, I have the option of quitting or getting legal defense. I know my rights.

A teenager is in a “compulsory” education situation. He can’t just leave. The powers that be, who should have protected him from the extreme harassment he was getting, were rather cheering on the harasser.

Yes, the murderer should not have killed him. But to expect that there will be no violence in these situations is the height of stupidity, and devastating to EVERYONE involved.
