You need a monostable fratilizer to make a flux capacitor work properly. Otherwise it will go asynchronous and the fallopian tubes will explode.

I don’t think any body is planning to charge the things with 110 or even 220 volt lines... hey claim charging from real stations equipped for it will be a five minute operation.

They will have to put some kind of noisemaker on the vehicle. Maybe baseball cards in the spokes.

"I can’t wait till we try to figure out how to recycle or dispose of all these batteries."

We've already figured that one out. It's called recycling, and is done currently for the large lead-acid batteries currently used in cars and trucks (and elsewhere). As I recall, something like 90+% of the lead for batteries is recycled.

> Someone wants that $300 million prize money McCain
> promised for a better battery.

Then they’d better read the fine print on that deal.

I can’t imagine that they get the $300 mil AND the
usual 20 yr patent-granted exclusive rights.

> Why is there no media coverage?

Since when does the media cover anything that doesn’t
forward their agendas?

Anyway, if this is for real (and even the ever iffy Wiki
has doubts), the energy density is only 10% of gasoline’s.

I have heard of attempts to use slow leak capacitors as batteies

controlled, slow leak, slow discharge, like a battery

Considering the cute names and the fact that pretty much all these claims are scams, I’m going to say it’s a scam.

It's there, not as a published application, but as an actual, full-blown USPTO-issued patent:

Electrical-energy-storage unit (EESU) utilizing ceramic and integrated-circuit technologies for replacement of electrochemical batteries

The technology is backed by some respectible names. The biggest problem is that they are about two years late in promised delivery deadlines.

The are experts in the field that swear a capacitor of this density is imposible but there are always established experts that claim what they cannot do is imposible.

At this point, I am dubious but I would love to see this technology work.

Keep in mind, the range they give is with the car traveling at about 30 mph. Actual range will be substantially less.

The cool thing is you could make a serial hybrid using a very small turbo diesel engine and a small supercapacitor that would drive like a supercar and get miliage better than the smallest econobox.

LOL..Good one..But your search efforts would likely work out better if you searched for ‘Super Capacitor Battery’ instead. :o)

I would say that when the say “normal houshold outlet” they really mean a super duper special custom install job done by a certified electrician that uses a typical 3 prong plug and maybe 10ga wires.

Or maybe they mean they fully charge the battery from an initial 50% charge.

Or maybe a little of both.

A "normal household outlet" providing 20 amps at 110 volts gives us a maximum of 2200 watts, which is the equivalent of about 3 horsepower.

This is very close to the charging scenario of my electric motor scooter (Oxygen Lepton), with an 1,800 watt motor and 48 volt battery bank. Top speed is 28 mph, which is fine for around my neighborhood, with a range of 20-30 miles. I tend to feel that an automobile with a comparable power plant would be underpowered and capable of somewhat less than 60 mph. /understatement
