The bear was probably fleeing some spandex clad crazed bicyclists.

A couple of days ago, I opened the front door to find a year old bear standing in front of the storm door. After it went back into the yard, I followed it, clapped my hands, and said, “shoo, shoo.” It ran off.
I never, ever, speak to adult bears.
