The liberals think that they have the most intelligence. Much of what they talk about is based on them having some higher level of understanding of issues and human nature. To them, those who are racist, homophobic, mysoginistic, etc. are basically ignorant, and just don’t understand the real issues involved.
You can apply this to various issues. If you are against same-sex marriage, then you don’t have that higher understanding of celebrating diversity and love and all that. If you are against illegal immigration, then you must be ignorant of the yearning of huddled masses to breathe free, and ignorant of our history as a nation of immigrants. If you are against socialized medicine, then you are ignorant of the many issues involved with healthcare, and don’t understand the problems of the uninsured. If you favored the Bush tax cuts, then you are not thinking about the good of society and funding gov’t programs. Instead you are focused on your own self-interest. As Hillary says, she prefers a “we’re all in this together” society.
