It's true!!! lol.
We can’t sell Sevin in Wisconsin anymore; it’s been banned by the Greenies.
It truly is some toxic stuff, so you might want to switch to a product made by the company Bonide called “Eight.” They also make a Japanese Beetle Killer. Both can just be sprayed on, but you’ll still lose some of your plants. The bugs have to ingest it before it kills them, so they need to eat the leaves sprayed with the toxin.
Bayer makes a good line of insecticides now, too. And their rose and shrub soak (you mix it with water and feed it to your roses and shrubs at the base) fertilizes the plants and also makes them systemically “icky tasting” to the beetles. However, that should’ve been done a few weeks ago before the beetles popped.
Timing is everything with these creatures.
And we do sell a lot of Milky Spore, too. And you’re right; it gets stronger with time in your lawn. Apply it again in the fall if you can.
Good luck!
Sorry, lost my head
You have made my day! I was at that game. I was in high school at the time. And yes, I’m an Aggie. The alumni were all yelling “run him through!”.
I'll definitely look at the Bayer product. And their rose and shrub soak (you mix it with water and feed it to your roses and shrubs at the base) fertilizes the plants and also makes them systemically icky tasting to the beetles.
However, that shouldve been done a few weeks ago before the beetles popped. I'll be better prepared with this new advice. Thank you. And we do sell a lot of Milky Spore, too. And youre right; it gets stronger with time in your lawn. Apply it again in the fall if you can.
Marking it on the calender; will do. My plants are in recupe mode. Japanese Beetles, I think, have gone on to plague someone else's plants.
Amazes me to know Sevin was banned in WI. I was in Fondulac (sp) last year, didn't see a whiff of pc, there then. However, I have attentively been observing the encroachment of the same types of policies being enacted in WI as those which have nearly bankrupted CA.
LOL, I proved you right and posted the link.
