This will be official at 11am EDT. Was recently named TD2. Furthest east a storm has formed so early, replaces... Bertha of 1996.

Tropical Storm Bertha - She's waaaay out in the Atlantic. Have we missed the Caribbean early season, and jumped right into Cape Verde storms?

Conditions generally aren’t that favorable in the central caribbean this time of year. Probably not much if any development with it, maybe if survives into the northwestern part it could do something.

And for some good news - buoy's in the western Atlantic and Caribbean sea stand ready to give us data this year.
Buoys 41041, 41040, 41043, 42059, 42058, 42057 and 42056 are in place, up and running.
