My grandma had a huge ‘rain-barrel at the corner of her house in the back yard. It caught the runoff rain, and was always full of water. She used that water to water all her flowers in her many gardens. (She had a pump for water at her kitchen sink. No running water.)

I can’t remember what my other grandma had.

My mom’s mother lived in California and I don’t remember any hand pump. My Dad’s mom lived in TExas. I really did not know her. We didn’t see them often; she died when I was young.

Someplace I remember a hand pump. My dad’s parents lived on a farm in Texas. I’m sure that is where I remember the hand pump. Seems that it was outside but I don’t remember whether there was also one in the kitchen.

My mom’s mom lived in town ... that might have made a difference.
