There are some that have horrid temperaments or serious genetic health problems. When they were at their peak of popularity the breed really suffered. Ours both came to us as nonplacable rescues. The female was blind from a very young age and the male has some aggression issues. He loves us, but I don't trust him with others if food is involved.

Seems that Cockeres are susceptible to eye tumors. Walt’s dog had one, but the vet successfully removed it.
