I had seen fledglings of chckadees, titmice, housefinches, sparrows, Inca and white winged doves for quite awhile so I thought the cardinal nest had been raided. I finally saw the young cardinals a couple of weeks ago. I was thrilled! I never see the nests..it’s a jungle out in the ravine.

Meg - I have had a male and female cardinal here for several years - but have yet to see any offspring.......You are SO lucky!

I love my cardinals..They are very drab when young..but they have their crests erect when feeding where my adults put their crest down on landing.

This is my best bird watching house ever..It isn’t that I have so many..but I have a nice variety.
I see an occasional mockingbird on my patio(there are many in the neighborhood.) I see an occasional carolina wren, red bellied woodpecker, and blue jay in addition to the ones I listed above.. Winters I sometimes have cedar waxwings and robins visit..but not this year.
