Welcome to Amy’s Place.
I completely understand about raising another child at an age when we should be doing senior things. (Whatever that is.)
WE are raising my greatniece. She is eight. Her mother is not a responsible adult and cannot care for her.
Eight and nine year olds can keep you jumping. Thursday was the last day of school. I was looking forward to it more than Marissa was.
Now I’m wondering about keeping her busy this summer. She starts 2 weeks of swim lessons on the 24th. Now I need to think of something for the rest of July. We will be starting our vacation the Aug. 8th and will get home just before school starts on the 20th.
Does your 17 yo help out a lot with the grandson?
.
JustAmy,
WOW! You too... so many seniors are in the same situation!
School ends for us here too next week, and we are scrambling to think of activities to keep our 9 year old grandson busy....and yes, swimming will be one of them! Granddad will take him to the local pool daily along with our 17year old adopted daughter! One blessing, because we are seniors we can swim free! LOL...
There are days though when I feel overwhelmed with the whole situation...especially with arthritis setting in real bad now.
Our 17 year old is a sweet girl and is a help, but of course as “ siblings” go...it can become competative sometimes...lol
But we take one day at a time!
Thanks for sharing your situation with me and thanks for the welcome on the thread!!
