Thanks, Billie. They are so much fun. I love to watch them play and wrestle. It’s good exercise for Chachi. If nothing is going on, he tends to be a couch potato. Sissy makes him get up off the coach and run.

No, I didn't feel the earthquake, and the dogs didn't seem upset last night. Often dogs can pick up on the vibration when people can't feel it.

I haven't felt an earthquake in a long time (knock on wood!).

The Fox and the Crow

A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. "That's for me, as I am a Fox," said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the foot of the tree.

"Good-day, Mistress Crow," he cried. "How well you are looking to-day: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds."

The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by Master Fox.

"That will do," said he. "That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future.

"Do not trust flatterers."

Happy Birthday, Aesop
Happy Cheese Day, FRiends!

Yep, she can hold her own, for sure. Chachi has got about a pound and a half on her, but she is quick and wiry. They are pretty evenly matched and, even though Chachi was here first, he is showing no signs of jealousy at all. I really can't tell which dog is “top” dog.

I am hating this wind too! The fence between us and our neighbor has blown down - two segments of it. The 4X4 posts had rotten out long ago, so it was just a matter of time before it went over, and this wind finally did it.

So, I guess this weekend, Jk and the neighbor will be rebuilding the fence. :-(

So cute..Looks like Sissy can hold her own!

Yes, she is a tough little thing. They play so well together, with such joy and abandon.

Chachi has loved her from the moment we brought her into the house. It's like he knew she was going to be his forever "sister" right from the beginning.

That is such a sweet kitty graphic - I also like that border/edge a lot! (I am always trying new border plugins, and also have one like that!)

Arghhhh! The wind, the wind! I get so tired of it here, too, that I just want to scream. There are so many days that I don’t even put the flag up because the wind just takes such a toll on it. :(

Aesop must be about 2600 years old today!

Belling the Cat

The Mice once called a meeting to decide on a plan to free themselves of their enemy, the Cat. At least they wished to find some way of knowing when she was coming, so they might have time to run away. Indeed, something had to be done, for they lived in such constant fear of her claws that they hardly dared stir from their dens by night or day.

Many plans were discussed, but none of them was thought good enough. At last a very young Mouse got up and said: "I have a plan that seems very simple, but I know it will be successful. All we have to do is to hang a bell about the Cat's neck. When we hear the bell ringing we will know immediately that our enemy is coming."

All the Mice were much surprised that they had not thought of such a plan before. But in the midst of the rejoicing over their good fortune, an old Mouse arose and said: "I will say that the plan of the young Mouse is very good. But let me ask one question: Who will bell the Cat?"

Moral Lesson : "It is one thing to say that something should be done, but quite a different matter to do it."

Marissa usually goes to summer school. The main reason is because there are other kids there.

This year she said she doesn’t want to go to summer school. Now I need to find things to keep her entertained. I have her signed up for two weeks of swim lessons.

One of the mothers (one of her aunts was a classmate of mine) asked about vacation Bible School. I asked her to get me the details. I’ve already paid for swim lessons.

We will be taking our vacation in August so I’m not sure what we will do in July. LOL If nothing else, I may enroll her in another swim class.
