My Memorial Day will be spent in memory of an unnamed PFC from somewhere the Pacific theater in WWII. I heard about him on Bill Bennet's show last Memorial Day. The man who called in was, a believe, a relative of this great American hero.

I can only remember the part of the story after the soldier, apparently the sole survivor of a battle after taking a hill, was given the order, Soldier, under NO circumstances are you to surrender that hill". His body was later found on the downside of the hill, every grenade gone, every round spent, with his bayonet in a dead enemy fighter.

Wow! What a story.

There are so many great Americans like that who we will never get to thank personally. That's what makes this holiday so special.
