If this was President Bush the quote would have been the lead joke on Leno, Letterman and Jon Stewart's show.
The lefties would have have a field day but when one of their own uses fuzzy math, crickets.

In my case, it wasn’t memorization by rote; I actually wrote the Chamber of Commerce in each of the fifty state capitals and asked for brochures and other information so I could learn about each state. The Vermont Chamber of Commerce in Montpelier even sent me a small slab of marble!

I think that’s total of 60 - 57 he’s been to, one more to go, plus Hawaii and Alaska.He didn't say plus. The one state to go was Alaska/Hawaii. They've merged to form the 58th state.

The slip-up is that he was not supposed to let out that he is prepared to annex a large portion of Canada, focusing on mostly bordering provinces:
British Columbia
Alberta
Saskatchewan
Ontario
Quebec
Nova Scotia
New Brunswick
There, that will make 57 states and
he’ll just leave the other provinces alone. Oh, he mentioned one more? Well maybe he’s planning to add the Yukon to his list....
