Markers have been added behind the Tyler tower grandstands on the frontstretch. Each marker is made of solid granite, resembles a Goodyear racing tire and old style pit board and weighs nearly 2,300 pounds.
"These historical markers are a great addition to our facility," said track president Chris Browning. "We hope fans enjoy reading these markers and reminiscing about the great history at Darlington."
This year markers showcasing track founder Harold Brasington, South Carolina David Pearson, Bill Elliotts historic Winston Million victory and the 2003 finish between Ricky Craven and Kurt Busch were added with plans to add several markers each year.
