I’ve been working on a site that prints bumperstickers... and I’m thinking of one that I’ll get after the election, pretty much nomatter who wins, that says:
“Yeah, I miss Bush too. “
It may work nomatter who wins. But especially if Osam... damn... I mean, Obama wins.
Well... the meeting today went very well. In fact, even better than it needed to. On the way out, my guy that was there to back me up (and did a great job of that...) commented that hey... do you realize what we were just authorized to do? We were just authorized to spend massive money on all the things we’ve really wanted to be doing, but haven’t...
Dang... he was right... this group bought-in on some really expensive and upsetting new ideas with regard to encryption and data protection in general.
This group was the CEO, COO, CFO and the dozen or so group VP’s in charge of the various disciplines. These are the power players: Get buy-in from this group and anything is possible. They haven’t been a change-embracing bunch in the past. In fact... they’ve been the change-killers. They are why we have been so abysmally buried in the past. But all that changed today. This is exceptionally good news.
Apparently we got our message across. We have data that is at risk. The data is at risk is because we cannot adequately control where it is stored, and the encryption of it. We can fix that, but it will mean that we have to enforce new policies. Those new policies will cost money, perhaps lots of it, and that money is OK to spend.
Bingo. That’s what we needed.
Tell me more...
