The Brazos is a little north of us, through Waco I think... ours is the Colorado. Although that one usually isn't a problem with flooding... the worry will be the smaller creeks around town that may flash flood. Luckily, we don't live where it's prone to flooding, so normally we're ok.

X-Files before or after it turned into an ongoing alien conspiracy story instead of individual investigations of weird happenings?
I would have liked the later episodes better if I’d never seen the earlier ones, I think. I’ve yet to see the really late ones, ‘cause I was annoyed with the changes.

I think there's a lot of potential there for it to be a new "X-Files". I agree! The Walter Bishop character (Denethor) is an interesting guy!

Hey guess what!
My mom was just worried to death earlier about my aunt, who is very elderly and has parkinsons and is in a nursing home in Brazoria County which is being evacuated. Mom didn’t know where they were going to take her.
She just found out!
They are taking her to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church in College Station...the same town my mom lives in!!
Good ol’ Catholics!!
(How does one pronounce Aquinas?. My mom says it’s pronounced “Uh-quine-us”. I am thinking “Uh-keen-us”.)

Great news on your aunt’s relocation to College Station. And yes, go with your Mom’s pronunciation.
To: RosieCotton
Well, after I guess... in X-Files early episodes the conspiracy was very much in the background, only mentioned occasionally. In Fringe it's very obvious that Something Secret Is Going On...

We caught up with it on TiVO (just back from anudder busyness trip) and it was just aw’ight. It won’t last two seasons.

I’ve always heard it Uh-quine-us or Aaah-quine-us
To: Corin Stormhands; g'nad
So I was tromping around some of g’nad’s old tromping grounds just south of the Logic Free Zone and during our working lunch, got to chatting with a fella who was in the gallery during Gen. Patraeus’ testimony to Congress. No only was he in the gallery, he was seated in front of some of the Code Pinkos. Having never encountered their ilk before, he was (and continues to be) completely freaked out by the shrieking. Poor guy

Keeping up to date on Ike (I hate Ike), the consensus is that it will hit in the Galveston vicinity, as a cat 4 Hurricane. Likely the winds will be about 145 miles per hour with a 20 foot storm surge. There is a significant chance that it will overwhelm the sea wall.

Yep, just announced on the local news, the Texas/Arkansas game has been postponed to Sept. 27, when both teams had an open date on their schedules.
Hmm, they're already starting contraflow on I-37 out of Corpus Christi tomorrow morning.

Well they still think you may get a Cat 2. Never been in one of those myself. Avoid Live Oaks.

The local weather-guy's latest best-guess track has it going east of us, smack over Bryan-College Station. If it does that, here in Austin we may get wind and a little rain, but nothing too bad.

Not so good for the Aggies!

Your Mom’s right, if the town is named after St. Thomas Aquinas. But then, them Texans sometimes do strange things with names. ;o)

ROTFL!! I haven't seen or heard of Miss Piggy in years!
Sarah's supporters should take some Miss Piggy puppets to Sarah gatherings with signs that say that! Throw it right back in Obama's face, but with a smile!

We’ll have to give David a head’s up! He gets so into his work, he may not even be aware that the storm is coming his way!
