Well, being a Cleveland sports fan, I’m used to being on the losing side. But when it’s the future of this country at stake, losing is not acceptable.

I am pretty sure we lost some time back in January or Feburary. Maybe next time.

The GOP lost its way a long time ago with the inability to know how to govern as the majority party. It’s distressing though to watch the Democrats implode while the best we have to offer is John McCain.

That being said, I’m not so sure the numbers look so bad for us last night. There’s a lot riding for the Dems on the primaries. Ours is already determined.

But the thing is, even if McCain manages to pull it off, we can hardly consider it a “win.”

Oh I think he can win it. The Dems are doing a great job of changing the minds of all those people, myself included, that said they could not vote for McCain. All he has to do is shut up for the next few months and then act presidential and he will seem like a breath of fresh air. But yeah, hardly a “win” for conservatism.

Heh...that also makes a good campaign slogan...

In happier news, have I mentioned how pleased I am that my goldfinches came back, in spite of my neglect at the end of the last season? I had tons of them this morning. I need to get another finch feeder, though. Only have the upside down one. I picked up a sunflower seed feeder yesterday (two of the three feeders from last year got busted, in addition to the hummingbird feeder...), but I’m still short a hummer feeder and a regular finch feeder.

The downside to all this is that the durned birds cost more to feed than the indoor critters...

I need a new tree rodent free bird feeder. They’ve started chewing the plastic on the one I have.

So far I’ve not had any attempt to climb the shepherd’s hooks I’m using for the feeders.

Plus the neighbors have peanuts...so why would they bother with my pitiful seeds? ;-)

You gots weird naybers...

Although it goes against my rulz, I've been considering an outdoor cat (although I had the thought of leaving critters outside in the winter - I know, I know).

But when I was mowing last night I found a bunch of new mole/vole holes in the back yard. Previously they've been contained out front.

So I went online and did a search for companies that deal with that. I found three through this search process. Before I could print the list, one had already called about setting up an appointment.

I can’t see how they could get up one of those hooks.

To heck with the birds! Feed the squirrels!

I like my little hummingbirds and goldfinches! They’re such cheerful little things.

I do hope this year I can get a hummingbird feeder that lasts more than a few months before plastic pieces start snapping off when I try to fill it. :-\ I may splurge on one of the metal and glass ones instead...and just hope I can avoid dropping it.

Ours here has always been rather ignored. I don’t know if I’ve got the mix wrong, or if it’s just too dark here, or what.

I think I get the birds that prefer to stay out in the open. Which means we’re not fighting for bird turf, so to speak... ;-) So I guess that’s good!

Yep, I’ve wanted a Purple Martin house for a long time. Mrs. looked into getting me one installed for Christmas, but the Bird Store told her we had too many trees. They like open fields.

Hair, I’m guessing you’re right about too much shade. Do you have flowers that will attract the hummingbirds?

Well, I dunno either, that’s pretty much the extend of my bird knowledge.

What’s the best sort of bird feeder to attract cute little bite-sized things? I’d like to give the dogs more exercise.
