getting ready to leave but wanted to share something that I just sent out via email and some of you no doubt did or will receive it..
This is a video of one of a homeless in Santa Barbara and his pets. They work State Street every week for donations. The animals are pretty well fed and are mellow
. They are a family.
The man who owns them rigged a harness up for his cat so she wouldn’t have to walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture, the rat came along, and because no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat and often, on the cat. The dog will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire him for a few chin scratches. The mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a Christmas card.

Thanks for sharing those Reagan quotes.
Have you visited the Reagan Library?
We want to go again but we hate LA traffic. :^ (

Marissa has been asking GrampaJust to take her with him to play golf.
I think he wants to get her some clubs and take her during the week this summer.
If Em gets on the golf course, please share pictures with us.

I Loved Reading ‘The Land that Made me me,’ Dolly; Thank you! Over the Weekend my Husband and I Saw a Display in the Small Town where we Live of Several Old Log Cabins, a Log Post Office, and a Blacksmith Shop, and the Cabins had Things in them that the People had Actually Used; Metal Dishes, a Spinning Wheel, Lamps, etc, and 2 Old Beds had the Original Ancient-Looking Bedspreads on them. There was a Cookpot in the Fireplace, and I’m Glad we don’t have to Cook in the Fireplace these Days; the Microwave is my Friend, Lol. Those People that Lived in the 1800’s would be Amazed at how Much Things have Changed Since their Time Upon the Earth.

Oh, I was hoping that Chachi would be coming with you. I keep wanting to get my hands on him. Those eyes get to me. Yes, 11 weeks. Okay, I will play the DVD for you when you come. There is really no reason for you to have such an odd DVD in y our collection LOL. It's best to be able to add comments as it plays anyway. We have laughed big time over it. You know, the Delta Queen is going to be here on July 30th. You guys will simply have to see her. She is going to be beached after this summer, due to nutty safety regs. There is a movement under way to try and save her. I'm afraid some rich person will buy her and turn her into a gambling casino. She is going to be here Wed. for the first stop of the season. I just picked up my walking tour instructions.
Counting the weeks now.

Hi Amy. I'm having a busy Monday. Went shopping at the Goodwill store. Got three dresses, four tops and a pair of kaki pants for $21. We have a great Goodwill store and I have a ball digging for "treasures" there. I get comments on my clothes all the time. Sometimes I can't resist saying, "Thank you, it cost me $3. I think buying new clothes is a waste of money. Besides, I hate the current styles.
I don't have Ms Em today. I will have her tomorrow and Friday. Usually have her on Wed. & Fri, but I have a walking tour Wed. so I switched with her other grandmother.

Oh, I am sure that if Uncle Walt gets her the clubs, he will take her to the golf course. He and son go golfing together. Em has had a toy club and ball and she enjoys knocking it around. She is pretty amazing. I got a sticker workbook that was kindergarden level. She completed every exercise in the book dealing with numbers, money, shapes, sets, and math. I feel sorry for her kindergarden teacher. She will be 4 in June.

Sweetie, you would be amazed at how much things have changed since I was a girl. Until I was 9 yrs old, we lived without electric, running water, indoor plumbing, and we cooked a lot of things over the fire in the fireplace. Beans, soup, pot roast. Potatoes were baked in the ashes. It really was not difficult. It just took a bit longer. There are times that I miss the simpler life I lived as a child.

Amy, and all, it looks as though a bit of missed formatting caused the first line of the poem to disappear.
Here's a repeat of the text:
Recall
We take a moment for the dance,
Among the long days pleasures,
But somehow the recall of touch,
Is topmost in our treasures.
When we were small the comfort gained,
From elders calm caressing,
Sustained us in a world confused,
And often quite distressing.
It is the touch that brings to life,
The memories of Joy,
Along with smells, and visions caught,
Our mental tricks employ.
As day winds down to sunset,
And darkness comfort brings,
The bright engulfing feel of hugs,
Heart music gently sings.

We'll get it right next time!

I'm so sorry, NnB.
When I previewed everything looked fine;
But I didn't recheck the text.
I just looked for extra <'s or >'s and B's.
It looks like I either left off a < or an >.
I'll post it again this summer ..... no one will remember. ;^ )
