We are, in fact, being held political hostage by those that control the world's oil supply. No, the nations you mention have no obligation to provide you with cheap oil.
But rather, they are producing a product that you are willing to pay for at the current price which is based on the current supply,

Speak for yourself. My monthly gasoline bill is over $400 per month. Tell me that ain’t a crisis.

Your crisis is not the nation’s crisis. Individuals, even groups, get in crisis all the time, that doesn’t mean the country has to stop and do something about it.

That $400 would be equivalent to $100 just twenty five years ago. The dollar ain't worth what it use to be.

Require that for any fuel to be listed as 'alternative', it must contain at least 20% patchouli oil.
Patchouli oil may contain up to 75% filler material composed of hippies, assorted environmental activists, commie college professors, nico-nazis and/or nanny-stater types.
Extensive use of 'filler material' would eliminate all barriers from energy independence.

I really like the “micro” Nuclear plant idea. It makes perfect sense.

Hate to break it to you, bub, but I’m just one of MANY across the NATION. There’s a meltdown on the horizon, and if you can’t see it, then you’re about as blind as they come.

Hate to break it to you bub but the plural of anecdote is not fact. There’s 300 million people in this country, of course MANY have financial problems. There’s ALWAYS a meltdown on the horizon, been hearing the same doom and gloom for over 30 years, I’ve learned that it’s usually BS. Some people just need major crisis in their life, so they pick whichever part of America is having issues this year (and there’s always something) and that’s the HUGE PROBLEM that’s going to DESTROY EVERYTHING, and then it doesn’t.

Well I’m not the one who needs to resort to insults when the facts won’t back me up. So that would be a no.

You're right. It's not. All the more reason why this issue needs to be addressed before a DUm-o-nut becomes POTUS.
The dollar and the price of oil have a limited, nonlinear, relationship.
If we don't get a handle on this soon, we'll all be looking at oil and, auto/machine/aircraft parts and, food products and, lumber...all priced in Euros. And by soon, many feel we don't have two years to get our act together.

No insult..I’m just making the observation that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about when you make your grand pronouncements. Looking at your profile, I see that you’ve previously been accused of shilling for RIAA, MPAA, Microsoft, and the ChiComs. Nice. I guess you can add OPEC to that list after this thread.

Noooo of course, calling someone clueless is never an insult. Tell you what, when you’re ready to discuss this or any other topic like a grown up instead of a school yard bully you let me know, until then bye bye.

Certainly, our quality of life is affected, do you agree? Not mine. Not yet, anyway. Though to hear it told, I imagine that will change fairly soon.
To: discostu
Wrong. We want you to STOP trying to do things about it. Government making things incrementally worse isn't doing anyone any favors.
If you think things are just peachy, you haven't been paying attention.
Just because the frog pot isn't boiling yet doesn't mean things are not getting a tad too warm for our health.
