I don't think AI wanted TH to fail because they have to much invested. I am sure 19 & AI want to sell as many records as possible to make money. I sure nothing would have made them happier than if his album sold over a million copies.

With that being said I bought his first effort and there were only like 3 listenable songs on it. The rest made me cringe. It went straight to the shoe box under my bed of CD's I bought that I wish I hadn't.

I almost wrote the guy saying "You have the use of AI Studios and Clive Davis songsmiths and this is best you can do?" Regardless of artistic control you have input and can do something better than that.

Don’t get me wrong I was not expencting Marvin Gaye, Doobie Brothers, Rare Earth, or Steely Dan when I sat down to listen to it. But I was expecting there to be R&B catchy hooks and grooves at least some rough building blocks to work on but there was none that. There was nothing there that made me want to hit the repeat button for any song. I found myself hitting the next button halfway through each song. As Randy Jackson said “I not feeling it at all Dawg!!!”.

Yep. Like any company, record companies are in it for profit. They do whatever they believe will contribute to making a profit for the shareholders.

There hasn't been a top-selling winner of AI since Carrie Underwood or a top-selling non-winner since Chris Daughtry. Of the AI winners to date, Taylor's album sold the least number of units. The following info is from Nielsen SoundScan, and is current through May 4, 2008:

Top 10 AI Alumni Album and Digital Downloads Sold
These figures include only domestic album sales. Kelly has sold several million albums internationally. No other AI alumni albums have met with international success yet. AI winners are in bold. Jordin Sparks has probably already outsold Taylor Hicks, but her digital download numbers aren't available yet.

AI bad mouth and dissed TH whenever they could, and still do. He never got the same promotion as a winner as the others did.

I didn't care for his first CD eithe and the one song on it that I bought it for, because I liked his pre Idol version of it so much, sucked on the new cd because it had been changed and not in a good way, imho. I was very disappointed. He should have left it alone. I hope he learned something from that first cd.
