First, 'raine, I'd like to welcome you to our happy little corner of Free Republic. We are a certifiable melting pot of backgrounds and personalities with one thing in common besides our FReeperness: We love this cheese-fest of a show! Some of us love to love it, others love to hate it, but we all can't stop watching. You bring yet another unique perspective to this thread, as someone knowledgeable of vocal technique. Personally, I'm curious as to your training and if you are currently singing.
I am concerned, however, that you may be having some trouble adjusting to the etiquette on this thread. You see, the vast majority of us have little or no formal vocal training. If you heard me at a karaoke bar, you would swear I could peel paint. Also, my opinion is that AI is a reality television show, rather than a legit singing competition. The producers of this show picked 24 aspiring popstars with decent voices - who also have what they believe to have compelling storylines and personalities.
Since most of us are not purveyors of fine vocal talent (At times, I feel likewise about the judges), we base our opinions of the contestants on other factors. We all have our favorites and we're cool with different opinions. Usually, we're posting funny pictures or engaging each other with some kind of witty banter without being overtly snide and condescending.
I apologize for taking up so much space, but perhaps I could recommend something that worked for me previously. It could be helpful in communicating more effectively not only on this thread, but on the other fine topics covered on FR...
I can tell you personally, that reading that book made a big difference in my outlook on life and my interactions with others. Again, sorry for the long post! See you next week, take care and may God bless you! :)
LOL! Very astute commentary. ;)
Two claws up for that post, Lobsta :)
