Also in the intro video David Cook says he found Chris Connelly's version on Itunes. He never said it was his arrangement. People who are saying he took credit for the song are just insanely jealous that DC is blowing the doors off the rest of the competition. David Cook comes into the show
well rehearsed, very confident, he knows his craft, comfortable with his own performance, and IS IN IT TO WIN IT. He goes out there each night showing that he is there to become the next American Idol and not there to be just another runner up who just hopes they did enough to get by to the next week like so many others in this contest.
From some of the comments on this board alone David Cook could come out raise his hand say "Hi" to address the audience and their reaction would be "How dare he say "Hi". What arrogance! Who does he think he is by addressing the audience."

(If we can't locate/deport illegals, how will we get them to come forward to pay their $3,250 fines?)

Who does he think he is by addressing the audience." I agree. I'm sick of the focus on Cook and the "arrangements" he "borrows" when the Monchichi sings Stevie Wonder arrangements and no one says "boo!". No one say's "boo" when the other performers ape the originals (Carly's Heart, for instance). Bottom line is that FOX makes sure the copyright owners get their license fees when these songs get performed on the show. People don't get that a lot of these no-name little bands, whose "version" Cook borrows, don't have a leg to stand on because they probably didn't pay any fees to the copyright owners to profit off the song in the first place. FOX isn't paying them for a reason. I hope they all get sued back into oblivion. You don't get to copyright an arrangement of a song you didn't license in the first place - you can copyright your *recording* of it, but FOX isn't piping the original performances through the speakers now are they? Live band, hello! Point is, it is a stupid debate argued out of ignorance. Yeah, Cook is arrogant, but who cares. He's had the stones and smarts to get this far in the competition and, win or lose, he's going to put out a great album. I'm going to buy it.

I agree. I think he was putting on an attitude in the very beginning, “the tough rocker guy”, the hair even had more attitude, lol, but he has dropped that and is now himself. His voice is superb!!
