First up is David Archuleta. He stutters and stumbles when he meets Mariah.

Monchichi: I'm not worthy to be in her presence.

No instruments this week, just Archuleta with (wearing black leather pants for some reason) and three female backup singers.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with this song. "Believe" something.

Randy: I was a little worried about tonight. Dude, if you can sing, you can sing anything

Paula: I know (Mariah) is beaming, because you made her proud.

Simon: I thoght it was very, very good. You sent the benchmark. I think the guys will have an easier time tonight than the girls, because of the comparison. But you performed that very well.

David: I think I'm taking another step outside of the box.

Mariah: Sounds really pretty and haunting.

He doesn't play an instrument this week. But he's accompanied by the entire Idol band and backup singers.

Awesome job!

Randy: You are ready to make an album. That was the most brave performance. (Randy gives him a personal standing-O)

Paula: That song could be on a movie soundtrack right now. You're it!

Simon: It was like coming out of Karaoke hell into a breath of fresh air. Original. The sign of a great potential artist--someone who takes risks.

Seacrest to David: You're in tears.

David nods.

Then we see the reason why--David's brother, who is battling cancer, is in the audience.
