He's very young, and needs to "find" himself, musically. He needs to be honest with himself and ask, "Is mainstream success REALLY what I want?"
You make an outstanding point. Regarding the finalists, Amanda and Kristy are the only two where you know what their musical point-of-view are. Amanda is an old-school rocker, and Kristy is pop country. I'd include Monchichi, but his father exercises too much artistic control. Cook is a rocker, but he swings between hard rock, pop rock and alt rock - he needs to choose his path and run with it. Regarding the rest, I really don't know where they're coming from - only what they're trying to conform to. That philosophy rarely breeds success.
I'd discuss how the show's format is hindering artistic development, but that's a rant for another day.....

I'd discuss how the show's format is hindering artistic development, but that's a rant for another day..... I think the judges should be consistent with all the contestants. They shouldn't expect some contestants to change up songs and not others and they shouldn't expect some to move out of their 'comfort zone' and not the others.
Plus some get told they sound the same every week, like Simon said to Amanda, but others get a pass when they sound the same every week.

(If we can't locate/deport illegals, how will we get them to come forward to pay their $3,250 fines?)

Where are you getting that David A’s father has control? I heard that a while back and then it keeps coming up, but have not seen anything in the news about him having too much say.......alias.....stage dad. I saw it once, and it seems that everyone just jumps on that without any back up for it. Have you read something or heard something on the news other than Simon and his little speech? Very curious.
