OMG. I would cry if I got to meet Dolly.
I’ve been a Dolly fan since the late 60s when I lived in Sumter SC and she was on the Porter Wagoner Show on the TV channel from Columbia....and I thought this little girl did Jolene rather well....
I know. The Idols seemed strangely underwhelmed by Dolly.
Maybe that was take 3 or 4 of meeting Dolly.
Dolly: David has the kind of voice and the kind of heart to know what to do with a song.
David sings his own arrangement of "Little Sparrow". Plays acoustic guitar, standing alone on the stage.
I don't know the Dolly version of this song, but this sounds great!
Randy: You've been showing you've got this unbelievable range. Another hot one!
Paula: I like your hair cut (it's off his forhead this week--it does look better) I've never heard a guy do that song. That falsetto ... show how well rounded you are.
Simon: Not going to say it was as good as last week, because it wasn't. But if you can make a song about sparrows good--which you did--then congratulations.
Dolly: Finally someone my size!
Sings "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind." Better than the last couple of weeks, but not great.
Randy: Wasn't jumping up and down. But I'm not mad at you. 6 1/2 outta 10.
Paula: You really connected with the audience and you were having fun!
Simon: We won't remember that in ten years. It was cute. You sang it quite well. Overall I though it was forgettable. Something you would see on a cruise ship.
My Hubby was social chairman for his fraternity and one of his jobs was to meet her at the airport. She's a hugger and he definately remembers how that famous chest felt pressed against his stomach! (she pretty short)
I missed last night show... Had to see how Roger (former Alabama football player, Roll TIDE ROLL) did on Biggest Loser. IMHO, Dolly is an awesome songwriter.
Dolly trivia: She uses her long fingernails as a musical instrument when she writes songs!
